Nestled in the heart of St Germain, Wisconsin, McGregor's Blink Bonnie Supper Club stands as a cherished beacon of classic American steakhouse dining and authentic Northwoods supper club culture. This venerable establishment offers a warm, inviting atmosphere that beckons both locals and travelers to slow down, savor, and indulge in a truly memorable meal.
Step inside and you’re immediately enveloped in a nostalgic, cozy setting where rich wood accents and friendly smiles create an ambiance that’s equal parts comforting and celebratory. At McGregor’s, the experience is more than just a meal—it’s a convivial gathering spot where spirited conversations flow as freely as their expertly crafted cocktails.
The menu is a testament to timeless American steakhouse fare executed with careful attention and passion. Start your evening with one of their signature cocktails—the Whiskey Old Fashioned Sour and Brandy Old Fashioned perfectly balance classic smoothness with a hint of citrus tang, while the Negroni offers a sophisticated, bittersweet twist ideal for any cocktail enthusiast.
When it comes to dining, McGregor’s truly shines with standout dishes that cater to both steak lovers and seafood aficionados. Imagine sinking your teeth into a tender, juicy 10oz Filet Mignon with Onions or savoring the rich, buttery sweetness of Shrimp and Scallops paired masterfully with your choice of steak. The legendary 20 Oz T Bone Steak commands attention on the plate, served sizzling hot with perfectly crisp steak fries that complement its robust flavor.
For those seeking a combination of surf and turf, the Filet Mignon and Shrimp or the Ribeye with Scallops deliver a harmonious balance of textures and flavors, melding the earthiness of prime beef with the ocean’s delicate treasures. The Raw Ribeye Steak is another adventurous option for true steak connoisseurs. Each dish arrives accompanied by their famously fresh hot bread and the option of a classic house salad bowl, which offers a refreshing, crisp contrast to the hearty mains.
No supper club experience would be complete without finishing on a sweet note. McGregor’s dessert offerings like the creamy Turtle Cheesecake and rich, molten Lava Cake are decadent conclusions to a satisfying meal that lingers warmly on the palate.
Regular visitors rave not only about the flawless steak preparations but also the unmistakable vibe that only a supper club with decades of heritage can provide. Longtime patrons highlight the consistently top-notch service, from the charismatic hostess whose smile immediately welcomes you to the attentive bartenders and waitresses who make you feel part of the family. Jeff’s remark about perfectly cooked but slightly tough steak reveals the high standards McGregor’s lives up to, while Dan A’s story about the lively bar atmosphere, friendly strangers, and memorable cocktails showcases the social magic that’s as much a part of the attraction as the food.
Expect a wait, especially during peak times—this is a popular hotspot after all, with a modest kitchen and limited seating. But as Eric Walk notes, the wait only builds anticipation for a quintessential North Woods dining experience where each sizzling platter testifies to quality and care. ZZz 3rD eYe zZZ calls it “one of the top 3 Supper Clubs anywhere,” and with good reason—McGregor’s delivers an authentic, passionate celebration of Wisconsin supper club tradition.
If you’re looking for a place where hearty, flavor-packed steaks meet cozy atmosphere and genuine hospitality, McGregor's Blink Bonnie Supper Club is an indispensable stop. Whether you’re a first-timer or a decades-strong regular, this is where memories are made, plates are cleaned, and the spirit of the Northwoods is joyfully tasted.
I think my expectations were too high. The tailgating before 4:00 was fun. The service was great. I enjoyed the salad and hash browns more than the steak. It was cooked perfectly but didn't have any flavor and was very tough. The scallops were okay.
Great place. Everyone says get there before it opens. I disagree. We got there about a half hour after they opened. Had a 2 hour wait. Place was packed. We got seats at the bar and went on to have one of my favorite WI supper club experiences as we had an old fashioned or three and met some wonderful people. I was actually a little disappointed when our table was ready. Great place.
McGregor's is a quintessential North Woods experience. EXPECT TO WAIT. Their wee kitchen can only turn out so much at a time, and I noticed one stove is dedicated to heating the sizzling platters your steaks come out on. That, in conjunction with 13 tables, limits the turnover. Having said that, the drinks are well poured, the staff is friendly, the food is great, and the people watching more than makes up for no TV to stare at in the bar. They are also installing a new patio area, not to eat on, but to make your wait more enjoyable ( see 'people watching' comment above).
Definitely a premier Supper Club. Top notch atmosphere & steaks were perfect! Hands down one of the top 3 Supper Clubs anywhere in my honest opinion.
There is not a better place in the northwoods! The hostess is absolutely the best! Her smiling face and her personality is so charismatic , warm and welcoming! Waitresses are tops along with the bartender! Food and atmosphere is second to done! Been coming here for 40 years and never had a bad meal
Wow. Zers. I’ve had my fair share of Wisconsin steaks like the really good one in Madison named after a Midwestern weather phenomenon, but this place hit at another level. We went on a Friday night and that turned out to be a great move. While the hordes were waiting hours for supper club and tavern fish fry, we were able to scoot into two bar seats while we waited about 35 minutes for a dining room table. This place does one thing exceptionally well — steak. I ordered the NY Strip and my wife got the filet. It came out searing flippin’ hot and was a production in of itself. Mine was cooked perfect (medium rare) and served with a salad and potato. I opted for hash browns smothered in cheese and since I love steakhouses with steak toppings — I was delighted to get grilled mushrooms and onions on my Strip. A top five all~time steak for me. I cannot wait to get back here.
This supper club deserves every single rave review that it receives. From the old fashioneds to the salads and then the steaks - perfection! Expect to wait, but know that it’s worth it. Highly recommend the stop when you’re in the Northwoods!
Pretty small and a first come first serve, no reservations. There is usually a line to get in, so it's best to get there early, but either way you'll be waiting for at minimum 30 - 40 min. If you don't get seated in the first round you get put on the waiting list and wait time can be about 40 minutes to a hour. Their specialty steak is very good, but from the others with us that had something other than that, said it lacked flavor and chicken was kind of dry. Staff was very nice and move fast. Their was a large group of us and they were very accommodating. That is also why this review lacks photos. For the price tho I think the sides should be bigger. There is also parking on both sides of the building and in front
